Fynd search engine

Posted on: August 18, 2024, 5:10 am

For the last few months, I've been working on Fynd, a search engine that is solving the issue of bias and algorithmic bubbles found in current mainstream search engines.

It's been amazing how everything has just fallen together and doesn't feel forced. I've found that Fynd does not need hundreds or thousands of ranking factors. In fact, Fynd does not use ranking factors at all in its code.

Fynd has 9 million pages currently indexed, and the results are outstanding. It provides a broad view of the internet instead of a small subset.

Site owners should like Fynd because it does not try to be an answer engine and steal their content and traffic; it just returns results based on the closest matching web page, more like a classic search engine.

I plan to make fynd available to the public in an experimental state when it reaches 15-20 million pages indexed. It currently indexes about 140,000 pages a day.

Self-driving cars

I’ve been thinking about the self-driving car concept and a world where the human element is removed, with accidents essentially non-existent.

It would be ideal to summon an electric car 🚗 on demand, with the ride cost being lower than gasoline. The ever-growing cost of owning your own car, maintaining it, and the cost of insurance would become a thing of the past.

I think 🤔 some people are hesitant about a future like this, and it’s likely decades away, but I’m excited for it.

Transactional relationships

My last post got me thinking 🤔 about streamers and transactional relationships with viewers.

Since COVID, I rediscovered Twitch and Kick came along too. I’ve been keeping streams open in the background while working and I can’t help but notice both chatters and streamers entering into these types of relationships based on money. It’s all rather fake and shallow, like paying a stripper for a lap dance.

I’m all for supporting your favorite streamer in a reasonable way, but understand it’s transactional. I know a guy who gave his whole COVID stimulus payment to a streamer and then watched that streamer ignore him months later when the money ran out.

It's rather sad when you really think about it on both ends.

Ice Poseidon Hunger Games

The Ice Poseidon Hunger Games start tomorrow. Been waiting on it since his scavenger hunt. It's a neat concept to watch all the streamers and their perspectives as they compete. The Hunger Games has been hyped up, so I hope it's entertaining.

No tax on tips

The no tax on tips plan is great 👍 but it should not be at the forefront of discussion. I haven’t heard much about more pressing issues like healthcare costs, or expanding social services like Medicaid and food stamps to help those in need more than ever.

Last time I checked the lowest priced health insurance plan I could find for myself would cost $1400/month with a $14,000 deductible.

Enough with novelty. Tackle the issues at the heart ♥️ and everything else will fall in line.
